Mr. Wong

Born in Hong Kong, Wong graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University with a Master of Education, also with first honor Bachelor’s degree in Music, majoring in music education. Wong has been in love with music since his childhood. He started playing the piano at the age of 6 and studied with Mr. Shi Jing Lin, Miss Kwok Ting, Mr. Raymond Young, and Mrs. Nancy Loo. Now he is studying with Mary Moran to learn Taubman Technique.

 

He obtained the ABRSM Grade 8 Vocal in 2012, the Trinity College AMusTCL in, 2008, and the ATCL (recital) diploma in piano. Moreover, he is also a piano tuner. He is a member of the Hong Kong International Piano Technician Association.

       

To make his music teaching more comprehensive, he tried to develop the level of different kinds of music aspects. In piano performance achievement, he was awarded the second prize in the 1st Shandong province –“Shizheng” Piano Competition and the First Prize in the “Haiziman” Piano Competition in 2005. Two years later, he won the third prize in Chopin ballade/scherzo class in the 14th Hong Kong- Asia Piano Open Competition. In 2009, as a soloist, he performed the Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre with the Hong Kong Baptist university symphony orchestra.

 

Wong is also interested in composing music. He is a CASH member in Hong Kong. He participated in the music production process of the Hong Kong film “Still Human”. He completed his Diploma in Music Production at Baron School of Music in 2015. He also worked in Hong Kong TML Media as a film scoring composer. Wong’s pieces have premiered globally at the Opening Ceremony of Rookie Stars Dance Contest 2017 and the International Youth Music Festival 2018 and served as the director of the Music for Our Young Foundation.

 

As for music teaching, he tried to absorb different kinds of music teaching methods. He held ANCOS Orff music & movement education level courses level 1. He also studied the Dalcroze teaching method from Joseph Reizer, a teacher of a Dalcroze Teacher, and participated in the Dalcroze workshop at Carnegie Mellon University. Through the continuous integration of the teaching methods he learned, he practiced in the Montessori kindergarten environment to help the school design and implement the curriculum, so that he has a very rich teaching experience of general music. He also acted as a lecturer in the Montessori teacher training program and shared his teaching content with teachers. He was invited to be a speaker at the Montessori Asia conference in Hong Kong in 2017 to share his music teaching method.
